They decide how and where to deploy their forces as well as how to best develop the experience of their team. They choose which battle to fight, what Mechs to take and which MechWarriors to bring. Player’s are in control of all aspects of the game. In “MechWarrior,” players’ actions shape the thickening drama. Players will interact with a multitude of different characters and personalities, watch news reports as they happen, and listen in on radio messages from rebel stations. “MechWarrior” features a complex story of betrayal, revenge and honor that unfolds in sparkling theatrical detail. Each Mech and MechWarrior exhibits unique strengths and weaknesses, so gamers must carefully evaluate each mission and plan accordingly. Mechs can be customized with brand-new weapons, armor and sensors including the devastating Long-Tom artillery piece. Players can command 21 different Mechs, seven of which have never been seen on the battlefield. Day missions, night missions, fog, rain, snow, blizzards and lightning provide atmosphere and add to the intensity and realism. High-energy lasers pierce the night rockets flare with blazing fire and buildings and vehicles crumble into smoldering rubble. Instead of desolate, sparsely populated battlefields, “MechWarrior” takes place in a rich and dynamic universe inhabited by armed allies, noncombatants and deadly antagonists. Players are the last of their family line, fighting a desperate battle to avenge their father and retake their planet from those who seek to destroy it. “MechWarrior” will immerse players in the BattleTech Universe with an engaging new story of a clan’s heroic struggle for freedom.

However, in the meantime, if you have your MTX files, download the new installer of MTX, and give it a try. MekTek will be releasing a self extracting installer containing both MTX and Mechwarrior4: Mercenaries very shortly. Also worth noting that they are planning to release more Mechwarrior titles via MTX in the future. MekTek are aware of hardware issues and long standing bugs with Mechwarrior4 which we plan to address in the future. The main reason MekTek are using MTX to deliver this free distribution of Mechwarrior: Mercenaries is to be able to serve the many updates we have planned in the near future. The public outcry of the application being laggy has been addressed and the result is a much more snappy windows form application. At some point it will allow for custom skins so you will have the ability to customize MTX's appearance.

If you already obtained the MTX patches else where then you should be able to download and install those patches with MTX by using the Browse > Open *.mtx function. If the files are corrupted, you will have to re-download and reinstall in order to connect to servers running the correct version.

There are risks involved with installing and updating in offline mode as the client can't verify the files to make sure they haven't become corrupted, but it does give you the option if you wish to install when the web server is unavailable. A critical flaw in our design pattern has been addressed where MTX would fail when our servers went down. The new version brings with it an offline mode, allowing you to install games and updates when the web servers are down.
